The Vienna Schubert Trio, familiar from several earlier appereances here, gave performances of the Trios in B, K. 502; in E, K. 542; and in G, K. 496, that were bright in tone, light, crisply accented and beautifully balanced. Particular credit goes to pianist Claus-Christian Schuster for the restraint with which he supports and never overpowers his partners, but violinist Boris Kuschnir and cellist Martin Hornstein contribute as well to the grace and freedom in phrasing, the warmth of tone, and the feeling of dialogue among old friends that gave these performances a special Viennese flavor. (J. McLellan)
